American Colonialism.

Will and I watched Why We Fight last night, a really interesting documentary about colonialism and the industrialized American military. It made me sick. There were a couple of really creepy right-wing commentators (I can’t remember their names but of course Will was very familiar with them since he’s such an NPR junkie) and they also showed a lot of footage from military contractor trade shows. War is big business. HUGE money. How the executives at companies like Raytheon and Lockheed Martin can sleep at night despite what they do for a living is beyond me. And the American government is so corrupt…it’s just unbelievable.

I feel so helpless as just an ordinary citizen, but I’m inspired to design some political posters or t-shirts or something. I felt invigorated by the Polish poster designs after seeing the Freedom on the Fence documentary film at Icograda.

I hate my country in a lot of ways right now (no wonder I want to move overseas someday!) and on a more trivial, less important note, really, really hope I get my laptop back today.
