Campo de' Fiori.

Well, I’m finally here! The flight was long and I left my down pillow in Amsterdam, but I got here unscathed and after the earthquake happened (I think, anyway….).

I’m only posting briefly right now; Chang-Ling and I need to go to the grocery store before it closes. Unlike America, you can’t shop 24/7 here. One of the things I like about Europe….

I’ll be manually writing in a journal and will try to post snippets of that here. Until then, here’s a link to some pics of my first night in Rome. We had a welcome dinner in the program director’s apartment, located in the Palazzo Pio of the Campo de’ Fiori (the plaza you’ll see in the photos). Note the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in the background of the Campo (the larger basilica pictured is not St. Peter’s – it’s another church behind the UW Rome Center).
