Fiera Milano.
Mmmmm, modern architecture that’s inspired by the Italian piazzas. I think that’s my favorite thing about Italy; the piazzas. Piazza e caffe e gelato.
From an article in the New Yorker by Paul Goldberger, about Milan’s new convention center; a quote from the architect, Massimiliano Fuskas:
It was my idea to make it like a piazza for the suburbs – there are a hundred thousand people around it, and they have nothing,” Fuksas told me recently, when I visited him in the Renaissance palazzo that houses his practice. By focussing his design around his invented street rather than around the exhibition space itself, Fuksas departed from the model that most architects have used in designing convention centers.
