For the love of good men and dogs.

For the love of good men and dogs.

I am a lucky girl. 2010 has been good to me, if only for the fact that I get to come home to a wonderful husband, a beautiful house with lots of white space and high ceilings, and exuberant, unconditional dog love every single day.

And all that without my formerly exhausting commute.

I have a new job that’s a mere seven miles from home and pretty damn awesome. As a full-time academic, I have the flexibility and freedom again to pursue my own ideas and interests, rather than being the means to an end for someone else’s.

I also have more time to write and I’m going to do more of that here, I promise. You’ll also see me on a couple of NPR properties: All Tech Considered and The Picture Show. One of my 2011 goals is to cut my design journalism chops there: I’ve already made a deal with Claire to write a design post every other week for The Picture Show (because Claire is awesome). Get your RSS readers on and your Flipboards out, yo. I wrote a really awesome post that should be up on All Tech very soon. It’s about human-centered sex toys. I’m not joking. Just wait and read.

Hopefully this will lead to writing for other pubs as well. I have my irons in the fire, trust me.
