Icons are everything.

Well, one thing I’ve realized in the short time I’ve been working at Teague is that when it comes to branding a user interface, good icons are everything. Seriously. And when you really think about it, icons are amazing things. In a visual space that is sometimes no more than 10px by 10px, one teeny, tiny little picture can communicate a gazillion words! Okay, maybe not a gazillion, but you get the picture. Some of my absolute favorite icons are the ones designed for Yahoo! Messenger. Other IM platform icons are just abysmal in comparison, if you ask me.

There are some really nice ones to be found at Icon Factory, too. While browsing them, I was wishing Natalia had structured one of our semiotics seminars around icon design.
