Movies I've seen lately....

Hmmm, I just got back from seeing an IMAX movie, Deep Sea 3D. It was really, really good. You actually felt like you were in the water with the divers and the colors were magnificent. And the jellyfish! My, god, the jellyfish…. How can I incorporate them into something for my human-centered design class, I wonder….

I also recently watched Citizen Kane. This is, truly, a classic cinematic masterpiece. The cinematography is just luscious. The story line lacked dimension and climax, imho, but the cinematography is like Thanksgiving dinner for your eyes – a succulent feast. Due to my little falling-asleep-during-the-first-15-minutes-of-a-movie problem, it unfortunately took me three takes to get through this film.

Will and I also went to see Marc Rothemund’s Sophie Scholl. I loved it. I thought the cinematography was beautiful (Martin Langer) and was captivated by Julia Jentsch’s stoic performance as Sophie. And how she wore the red sweater during the whole movie? What great art direction! It was really effective in terms of making her the focal point in most scenes.

Oh, and this photo above? It’s a Flickr find of the Seattle library. It’s inspiration for my thesis film; I may shoot some footage there….
