"Smoke 'em out" with PowerPoint.

This is a really interesting excerpt, taken from Thomas E. Rick’s Fiasco, especially given Tufte’s assertions about PowerPoint:

That reliance on slides rather than formal written orders seemed to some military professionals to capture the essence of Rumsfeld’s amateurish approach to war planning.”

and “To imagine that PowerPoint slides can substitute for such means is really the height of recklessness.” It was like telling an automobile mechanic to use a manufacturer’s glossy sales brochure to figure out how to repair an engine.

I’ve been thinking about PowerPoint a lot lately because of the information design I’ve been working on at Gensler. How can I help to influence the way they present their findings better?

Anyway, I wonder if Rummy’s resignation was turned in as a PowerPoint slide? Not that his absence really means anything. We still have an idiot running the ship. It was a political move, I think. Nothing more.
