Una bella tazza di caffe.

I am in Seattle this week (hence, no WZT ’til I get back to DC) and have been drinking as much espresso as possible. Let this blog entry be my formal announcement that, in my honest opinion, Vivace has the best coffee in Seattle (the Café Nico. Mmmmmmmm….). Many of my friends swear by Stumptown, Fiore, and Victrola, but I like Vivace the best. Why? Well, the coffee is smoother than velvet. As is the foam on their cappuccinos, macchiatos, etcetera, etcetera. And, most importantly, they serve it true Italian style. In porcelain cups. With saucers. With little coffee spoons. I hate it when I have to ask for what should be a given.

I also had a really good espresso con panna at All City Coffee in Georgetown, except that it was served to me in a paper cup. If you’re reading this, snotty barista, HARD-CORE ESPRESSO DRINKS ARE NEVER SERVED IN PAPER CUPS. DON’T EVER DO THAT TO ME AGAIN. I don’t give a RAT’S ASS if you close in 30 minutes. That is no excuse. When I pay three effing dollars for two shots of espresso and a little whip cream, DON’T ARGUE WITH THE CUSTOMER. Jesus. Go to Italy already and see how it’s really done…. Or Vivace. They’ll set you straight, too.
